Food Safety & Licenses in Meigs County, OH

The Meigs County Health Department is responsible for licensing and inspecting any Food Service Operations (restaurants, bars, schools, institutions, etc.), Retail Food Establishments (grocery stores, markets, pizza places, convenient stores, and gas stations), Mobile Food Services (food trailers and stands), Vending (vending machines with perishable food), and Temporary Food Services (food service that sets up for only a short time period).

There are four types of food license available: (click on license type to view or print)
  1. Mobile Planning Packet Food trucks, knock down units and other mobile vendors
  2. New Food License Planning Packet  This is the standard food license, used for restaurants, grocery stores, any permanent structure selling food.
  3. Temporary Food License Planning Packet Good for one event lasting 5 days or less.
  4. Vending Planning Packet This is the plan review document to set a vending machine that will dispense perishable foods.

  1. Employee Responsibility – All employees must sign!
  2. Choking Poster
  3. Employees Must Wash Hands Poster – Must be displayed at each hand wash sink!

Meigs County Health Department Does NOT Offer Food Handler or Food Protection Manager Classes at This Time

 

New rules from Ohio Department of Health have said it is now OK to take the Certified Food Protection Manager or CFPM (Level 2) course work and exam online from ServSafe. If a course and exam is taken online, then an application for the Manager Certification in Food Protection must be submitted to the Ohio Department of Health. 

 

You can go to the ServSafe website at https://www.servsafe.com/ and take the online course work for the CFPM (Level 2) course under the ‘ServSafe Manager’ tab or the Food Handler (Level 1) course under the ‘ServSafe Food Handler’ tab.
